Tamang Heritage Trek is one of the newly open trekking routes of Langtang region. The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who came from Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal. In earlier days, the citizenship of Nepal would not be offered to real Tibetans, so they changed their ethnicity to Tamang. The culture and traditions of these people are similar to the Tibetan across the border. The trekking to this route will offer its visitors glorious views of glittering mountains all around.

This trekking destination is just a day long bus journey from the capital, Kathmandu. The 7-day trekking tour provides a variety of experiences. Tamang rituals, Tibetan culture, festivals, traditional architecture, costumes, local Syabru dances make the exposure to this culture very unique. There is a view point at Goljung Pass, from where views of Langtang and Kerung (Tibet) can be awe inspiring. Visitors will get an opportunity to observe Syabru, Mane and other local dances at Goljung and Gatlang VDCs. The villages also sell exclusive handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers and other things. Tourists can enjoy a hot bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani before reaching Nagthali. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman is an unforgettable experience. Testimonials

  • Just wanted to throw out a small plug for Ganesh and Gabish – a father and son owned trekking company in Nepal. In 2013, Susanne and I were lucky enough to have Ganesh as a guide for our quiet two week hike through the Tsum Valley. He really is fantastic at his job and has an amazing singing voice (a bonus on long days of hiking)!!! Many trekking providers are not owned by their guides, so your money does not always go into the pockets of those that work the hardest. If any of you guys out there are considering a holiday to Nepal or know someone who is, you should get in touch with Ganesh and Gabish at Nature Hike Nepal – https://www.naturehikenepal.com – and hopefully Ganesh will be free to show you around !! – Dan and Sussanne

  • We trekked with Ganesh in November of 2014 when we did the Everest Base Camp trek for our honeymoon. What an amazing experience! Ganesh was so knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy.

His English is great and he is a very good communicator. He took such good care to make sure we had a wonderful experience. When we started the trek, Ganesh was our guide. By the time we finished the trip, Ganesh was our friend. I’ve recommended Ganesh to several friends that visited Nepal after us and they all share the same feedback about Ganesh. He is fantastic!! – Mary Messer
