Mardi Himal trek
lies on the shadows of the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek, and it is one of the best trekking points of Nepal. The trek focuses on Mardi Himal (5587 meters) which is located at the east of ABC. In recent years the trek has gained popularity for its panoramic sceneries and thrill.

The commencing point of the trek is Phedi. The trek takes you through quiet villages with stone houses reminiscent of the older times and enforcing the thought that it’s a land untouched by the modern era. Hike through the forests filled with shades of red as you enter woods filled entirely with red rhododendrons. The forests and greenery end abruptly and it exposes the rugged mountainous setting

The trek is relatively moderate for expert hikers and novice alike.  The trails are not paved and are rough, rocky and gravel-strewn so walk carefully! The hardest part of the trek is going from High Camp to Base Camp which is quite steep and rocky, and besides, the forested part of the trek tends to get slippery when it rains.

If you are interested in longer Trekking, visit the Annapurna Circuit Trekking route, the Upper Mustang Trekor the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

  • Just wanted to throw out a small plug for Ganesh and Gabish – a father and son owned trekking company in Nepal. In 2013, Susanne and I were lucky enough to have Ganesh as a guide for our quiet two week hike through the Tsum Valley. He really is fantastic at his job and has an amazing singing voice (a bonus on long days of hiking)!!! Many trekking providers are not owned by their guides, so your money does not always go into the pockets of those that work the hardest. If any of you guys out there are considering a holiday to Nepal or know someone who is, you should get in touch with Ganesh and Gabish at Nature Hike Nepal – – and hopefully Ganesh will be free to show you around !! – Dan and Sussanne

  • We trekked with Ganesh in November of 2014 when we did the Everest Base Camp trek for our honeymoon. What an amazing experience! Ganesh was so knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy.

His English is great and he is a very good communicator. He took such good care to make sure we had a wonderful experience. When we started the trek, Ganesh was our guide. By the time we finished the trip, Ganesh was our friend. I’ve recommended Ganesh to several friends that visited Nepal after us and they all share the same feedback about Ganesh. He is fantastic!! – Mary Messer
