Annapurna Region

One of the most popular trekking destinations, the Annapurna Region, lies in the western part of Nepal. Annapurna literally means “full of food” but it is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. Accordingly in Hinduism, Annapurna is “the universal and timeless kitchen-goddess (the mother who feeds).

The Annapurna Region is mostly famous for its majestic beauty. The Trekking basically starts from the most beautiful city in Nepal, Pokhara “City of Lake (827m)” and then goes to Beshisahar (760 m.). Further an excellent reason to trek is the fresh air of the green forest and the beautiful Fewa Lake in Pokhara Valley. Also travellers can chose various type of trekking routes as the traveler’s time and interest allow. On this incredible trekking region, you’ll spend many challenging days traversing forests of rhododendron, isolated hamlets and mountain villages. Moreover for six to seven hours a day, make your way along the trails challenging. Lead by expert guides and assisted by support staff throughout, you’ll be greeted by locals who offer a fascinating glimpse of traditional rural life-and majestic views few rarely experience.

Ghorepani is a village in Myagdi District in the Dhaulagiri Zone of northern-central Nepal. It lies 17 kilometres from the district capital of Beni at an elevation of 2874 m (9429 ft). The village lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and contains a number of “guest houses” that provide lodging and meals to mountain trekkers, many of whom spend the night before a pre-dawn trek to the top of nearby Poon Hill (3210m/10531 ft) to watch the sunrise. The place used to be a rest stop where ancient traders found water (pani in Nepali) for their horses (ghora in Nepali) thus leading to the nomenclature Ghorepani.
